Where are all the true and faithful men and women of God?
God has hidden them, for they are His jewels, and He is careful not to throw His pearls before the swine to devour; Matt 7:6.
They are found by those who would seek, not from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, but from the Tree of Life where the Word of God resides; John 1:1-5. In this place the Lord Himself teaches us how to discern what is good and evil AS we nourish ourselves and do as He instructs us:
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Heb 8:14
For it comes down to which tree we seek nourishment. Many mistakenly seek (a) christ from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. These teachers and preachers are revealed to the discerning.
In the day we live, we must be careful where we find our nourishment, for it will either be from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil curated by the god of this world (2 Cor 4:3-5) or from the Tree of Life – who is the Way, the Truth and the Life; John 14:5-6.
We will develop a taste for and enjoy one over the other; Matt 6:24.
The kingdom of darkness has done excellent work in creating a pseudo-Christianity rooted in the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil and is a snare for many.
If we do not find joy, delight, and refreshment from the Word of God may indicate we have been seeking our nourishment not from the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil each have their distinctive tastes to which we will be repelled to one and attracted to the other.
We may have once enjoyed the sweetness of its fruit and felt its strength enter our body, but when we taste the other, it is comparable to eating a chocolate cake. The purity of the strawberry loses its appeal as its sweetness fades next to the rich laden allure of the cake. The lure (of Satan) is seductive, full of enjoyments to our soul and flesh, whereas, in contrast, the Word in its purity needs no such lures. All who eat from it say with glee, ‘once I was blind, and now I see!’
All knowledge is not good, no matter how true and correct it is, for Adam and Eve taught us this. It is no less important for us today to heed the warning God gave:
“Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Gen 2:16-17
Both trees exist today. One is a trap; the other leads us to everlasting Life.
