Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 3:20-22
Jesus describes to the Apostle John the churches through the church age, otherwise known as the age of grace in Revelation 2-3. Right now, we are in the Laodicea church age, where Jesus Christ has not been invited. A church where its members are not born again. Its faith is not in the Lord Jesus Christ but in how much it has. Read Rev 3:14-22. ‘We have all we need’ – all we need to do is believe, they say. ‘Look, see how rich we are.’ The sanctuaries are filled with entertainment seekers looking to be filled, not with the Lord but with another spirit, one that will give them an emotional high. They judge themselves by themselves and by their feelings to prove their love for the Lord. The Word in the Bible lines up to their belief so that Jesus abides by them; instead, then they abide in Him; John 15. Their gospel message is, ‘God loves me, and knows how much I love Him. He knows my heart is in the right place no matter what my actions may be.’
The word sin and repentance are not in among its members, Only ‘by the grace of God I am saved – by FAITH ALONE.’ So, to say they have sin that needs confessing is to not have faith in the finished work of the cross. How they explain (away) John’s exposition regarding sin in his epistles is extraordinary.
What about living holy lives or walking in fear of the Lord? Why these are nothing more than religious salvation by works, they say, and so stay away from such false doctrine. There is no understanding of these attributes because these come only by the presence of the Holy Spirit in us, who teaches them.
This church’s ‘light’ is darkness since Jesus is not in their midst, and what Jesus warns about saying:
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Mt 6: 22-23
This is the true pandemic we face today, which is this vast deluded group who firmly stands by an empty faith, denying Jesus’s invitation to welcome Him to come in.
This group is not led by the Spirit of God because He leads us away from ourselves and from this world – which is evidence He dwells in us. In contrast, they are worshipers of Self, look like the world without conscience and distinction, and unaware they are empty for all they fill themselves with and are consumed by.
To belong to the Church of Christ comes with a cost. The cost is our life. We were bought for a price and no longer live for ourselves but to serve God in all we think, say, and do.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Cor 6:19-20
We enjoy the Lord’s presence and live to accommodate Him, which means we continually adjust ourselves according to what His Word reveals.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:7.
Our walk is constantly growing brighter with the Light of Jesus – as we submit to God and participate with His Spirit.
But the path of the just is like the shining sun,
That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Pr 4:18
In comparison, the Laodicea’s only grow fatter in their fleshly lusts; though they appear religious, they are only filled with air.
For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 2 Pet 2:8
They do not know the power or work of the Holy Spirit – nor contain a New Heart born by His Spirit – because they loved their lives more and are unwilling to die – and forsake – themselves and this world.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Rom 1:16
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5:17
O Laodicean, pray today that God would expose your heart so you may recognize who you are this side of heaven and repent – before it is too late!
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, – Acts 3:19
NOTE: I find it most interesting, the Post ‘The Surface Christian‘ is by far one of the highest viewed out of all my other posts and describes a member who belongs to the Laodicean church. The True Church is described in the Post, ‘Jesus is coming for His Bride and this is what she looks like’ In Day in the Life of the 10 Virgins I describe both churches.
If you have been a long-time subscriber you will see that much of what I write on is the fruit of the truth as opposed to the false. I pray it never gets old, but only serves all of us to make sure we know which one is which – God Bless.
