The Gospel is Beyond Belief

The Gospel of Christ lifts Jesus up, first on the cross, then in the resurrection.  It involves death, His and ours.  This Gospel is the power of our Salvation and moves us out of ourselves into everlasting life.  The tragedy among the believing is most do not know this Gospel.  The Gospel of Christ is for all who are willing to forsake- all and believe.  We are given Salvation through Christ’s suffering and sacrifice – because God so loved the (lost) world; John 3:16.  This Gospel is living and something we ‘eat and drink’ so we become the Lord’s as we partake with and of Him; John 6:37-58.  The Lord gives us His Holy Spirit, and we become Holy Vessels.  We are set apart now for the purpose and work of God; Romans 12:1-2. His Spirit prompts us to leave what is of darkness and unclean – not at once, and is calling us out of the world:

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

 Therefore

“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Cor 6:14-18

The soul who has committed their lives to God will be born again by His Spirit, and we will desire what God desires.   We are willing to lay aside, cut off, and depart from all that God commands through His Word.  If we do not have this desire, it is most probable that we do not yet have His Spirit in us because the soul who has been born again will be significantly different for one reason.  We will contain a new heart that has been spiritually born and is connected to God almighty.

The Spirit in us will testify His presence in us because His heart will cry and desire Father God –

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.  For you did not receive the Spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God, Romans 8:11-16.

The only way we will desire God and follow Jesus through the Word is by containing His heart in us.  The evidence of this new heart is we will be attracted to serving Him by denying ourselves.  This is different from those who are merely religious and why we must be careful not to look only at outward works as the measure of our faith, without having any inward changes going on.

Jesus had a lot to say of the powerful and showy religious men in His day, Matt 23, to which He rebuked as being nothing more than whitewashed tombs full of dead men’s bones!

It is easy to be religious, to be loyal to our churches, and serve faithfully.  On the other hand, not everybody can work for the Lord Jesus Christ in His Kingdom.  Only those who have been born from above can take part in His ministry.

Christ’s Gospel is beyond something we believe and something that has been imparted to us so we may live it.  This is the difference between the haves and the have nots.  One will burn with the heart of God and the cross of Christ, while the other will center around the love of God and compassion for those in need and suffering and is crossless.  This compassionate social Gospel is Satanically inspired, and Jesus reveals it on the day Peter rebuked Him from going to the cross:

Jesus responded by saying:

“Get behind Me,Satan! You arean offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Matt 16:23.

The Gospel is so large, and beyond this dimension, we need the Holy Spirit to help us grasp it!  It is worth us asking, seeking, and knocking – so God may give us the knowledge of the truth, which is a lifelong request.

  1. I love what you wrote that the gospel requires Jesus death AND ours. I have just begun to grasp this, I have been asking Jesus to teach me about the gospel for years and He just takes me deeper and deeper… not just doctrine, but the reality.

Blessings in Christ to you and your family. 🙏🏻

    • I can attest by my own life experience that it wasn’t until I truly understood I needed to put myself to death and apply this day- to-day was when I began to grow in understanding in the knowledge of the gospel and its power and depths – that there were even depths, to start with. So I do not doubt you too will increase in the knowledge of the truth
      – in His name, be blessed.
