In a previous post, I wrote about one of my joys, revamping furniture, and how when I am in my workshop, it becomes the place as I tune into the Lord where He teaches me things. See: Law vs Grace – A personal perspective. There is another place where I do this, and that is when I go on bike rides. I ask the Lord things, and I seem to hear Him more clear. Or where He speaks to me of Himself. I’d like to share an extraordinary ride I had just recently. The background is, I enjoy riding up hills. I call them power punches. I trained one year during the summer to ride up one of our mountains. I did it, and oh, how grueling but wonderful it was! There is a mountain where I live that goes up to a ski hill. This mountain, I did not even think to climb for its height. But I would go and ride as far as I could and call it a day, which was actually not far at all and basically was only the bottom and beginning of the climb up. One day, I wanted to go just a little farther than I accomplished the last time. I got as far as I could and was about to turn around, which turned out to be no farther than the last time – when I heard this:
“Do you want to take a ride with Me?”
“Yes!” – I said.
“It will be where you must look one step at a time and not at the mountain before you.
I will show you what walking by faith means. It is where each step you take, I will fill as you yield yourself to Me. I will provide all you need to get through this. It is by My power will you accomplish what I ask.”
The scripture, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ Phil 4:13, came to mind.
Keep your attention on Me as you ride. Enjoy the experience but do not let the experience be your focus. I am Your focus. Breathe. Breathe. Give to me yourself, and I will fill you, and you will hear My direction. I will take anyone to the heights of heaven if they walk by faith (in Me). Your faith is what determines how far we will go – together.”
I road a little more than halfway up this mountain, and this without any exaggeration was a miracle and could have only been done through the Lord’s power. When I turned to descend, it was then that I saw how far the Lord had taken me. As tears streamed down my face, joy filled my heart as I marveled at what had just happened.
This is a ride I will never forget for in each step I took it was filled with nothing more than the miraculous. I was coached by God all the way!
The gift I was given in this experience was not meant just for me, but to be shared with you and I pray that this will be an encouragement. I was thinking of how I did not go all the way up and felt the Lord reminding me why it is important we stir each other up -to continue to climb our mountains and not give up. We need each other.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:2
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb 10:23-25
