Dissolving Strongholds: Authority Figure Breaches

We come to faith in Christ when we leave our old lives where we have lived serving Self, Sin, and Satan through our flesh and the world. Now, we agree with God to live according to His Son and His Gospel. Alongside this new way of life, we also have deep emotional and physical wounds we have incurred that have become part of our personality. How do we know which part of us has been the result of such trauma? Only the Word of God can reveal this, coupled with our submitting to God our entire life and being.

Strongholds

Strongholds manifest in us in what dominates us and have control over us. The basis on which they enter our lives is through what is of satanic influence. Though it is evil, it has entered legally.

Freedom

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Freedom comes through interactive work that we do in relationship with God’s Word. Our victory depends on our understanding and walking in its truth. Jesus exercised how this looked when we contended with Satan and his temptations:  Matt 4:1-11.

Promise Land

New life in Christ is about understanding and living in the promised land His Kingdom gives us. It is a new land in which we must learn its customs and laws to enjoy and be prosperous.

God gave us a picture of how He directs us to ‘possess the promised land through the children of Israel in Deut 7:22

And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, and will inflict defeat upon them until they are destroyed. And He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under heaven; no one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

As we seek the Lord, there are areas in our lives that must be dealt with as one drives out former occupants like in this passage.

Bank of Jesus Christ

Everything we need to take possession is found the Bank of Jesus Christ. All that is required to live victorious holy, and righteous lives are found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We can say we believe that this account exists and even boast to others all we want, but unless we utilize what is inside, we will not EXPERIENCE what Jesus has died to give us. In truth, many of us still operate out of our bankrupt accounts with many outstanding liens, and by this, we are under various judgments. Jesus describes the principle of what I say in the story of the servant who refused to forgive. Matt 18:22-35.

Interestingly we see how the father/husband who refused to forgive was the cause not only for himself but his entire household into judgment. We learn how those in God-given authority over us have the power to impact our lives for good and evil. God has instituted parents as the legal authority over children to be protector, provider, and nurturing where God blesses. When this dynamic is perverted rather than a blessing, a curse will be the result. It is a cycle that is possibly a reason for many drug-addicted and homeless people on our streets. Or the gender confusion that is growing each day.

Satan knows how he can use the system to his advantage and is the ultimate of all legal rights lawyers to be found. He will zero in on gaining access through the most trivial technically and indeed uses our ignorance to his advantage.

Knowing this, it is not hard to believe how many of us still walk about legally bound to where Satan continues to rule over us. Our mistake is how we have accepted this as normal and something we need to ‘tarry’ until the Lord comes!

Access Freedom

We go in as the Israelites did and systematically, with purpose, drive out what occupies our land. We cancel the agreements we willingly or unknowingly made with the enemy. We forgive the debt that has been incurred to us by any and all. We take power over (perverted) authority that ruled over us through and place it upon the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and say; ‘have your way in me, Lord!’ Then we lay hold of the new rules of conduct for this land, which is according to the Word of the Lord. In this, we will prove what is true in the Word, in our own lives:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

We all have areas where God wants us to possess for His Kingdom, and some of us leave this as mere theory. It is up to us, and no one else, to take and possess the Promised Land, and may we not delay one more day!

Simply ask the Lord the land He wants you to possess and begin driving out all that is to go!

To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

And so we have the prophetic Word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

  1. Amen! It’s always little by little with Jesus so that it lasts… I read that verse you shared in Deuteronomy years ago and I have found it to be true. So often I have wanted the “instant” deliverance, and there were definitely some things that went quickly… but Jesus always teaches us *how* to overcome so that we know for the next time.

Thanks for sharing and God bless!
