“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3
Time is almost to arrive – for the completion of the mansions. Jesus has been working on them since He departed from His Beloved and took His position at the Right Hand of God. A work that cannot be justly compared to any human carpenter even with the utmost of skill – for it goes beyond what we understand in our material world.
Each abode has been fashioned according to its occupant and serves almost like a fingerprint. Not one will be like another.
For what each one has built on earth, in His name, and by His Spirit – is how Jesus makes each mansion, using Gold, silver, precious gems and stones.
Father and Son, take account of the work together and are well pleased. They discuss what few things are left to do in the completion of His Brides home.
Jesus longs for His Bride and makes last-minute finishing touches and exercises excellent patience. At the same time, He waits for His Father to conclude His dealings on the earth. For at His Father’s Word, Jesus will be ready to meet His Beloved in the air. This appointed moment will not go unnoticed by all who believe but will undoubtedly be denied – by those who will remain on earth.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thess 4:16-18
In the meantime, there is stirring up on the earth, His Bride, the Church senses the hour and is diligent in ensuring they are ready for His coming.
Though there is joy in the heart of God for the day He will soon celebrate the marriage supper of the Lamb, He is filled with a grieving we can never know. He grieves for the lost, who have and refuse His Sons proposal. For each one born into the world -He has a plan for their life that is to be filled with wonder, joy and peace unending. His grief and sorrow are in the depths of the eternal, for He mourns the loss of who they were destined to be according to His will and never will. They make choices to reject Him rooted in this world and in sin that will determine their eternal doom.
If we think of how we prepare for momentous occasions – and spare no expense- how much more shall we with what God has prepared from since the beginning of time?
Are we making sure we are even dressed for the occasion? Sadly, some will be found without the proper garments and will be declined entry; Matt 22:1-14.
Paul and the writers of the epistles and Jesus Himself warn us to not be deceived, to make ourselves ready and examine to see if we indeed are of the faith. His Majesty, our God, and Father command this kind of attention and diligence in maintaining our purity and loyalty towards our Beloved Lord – His Son. His love compels us, so it is not a grievous thing to love, honor, and obey His commands.
For all who say they are His, let us live soberly and thoughtfully in our hour. Not caught up in the latest hype and complexities of the day, but rather in the stirring up of genuine love for our Lord and Jesus Christ and readying ourselves for the great day that is fast approaching. Amen.
