Take a moment, think about your life. What it was, how you lived and where you are now.
Consider the reality of how you have lived your entire life without God and how you lived to serve yourself (and your sins).
Acknowledge your sin before God and how you refused and rejected Him in your life.
Make confession to Him of your sins against Him and repent of ‘doing life’ your way in serving yourself and tell Him you want to live your life for God starting today.
Repentance: it is an act of turning from what you thought was good/right, to agree with God and turn to Him and involves the changing of your mind. You make an about-face – and determine to no longer live against God, but with Him. Repentance is something that requires thinking about so that it is done in sincerity as it involves commitment.
Accept Jesus and what He did for you in dying on the cross, taking your sin and its punishment on Himself, so you may be forgiven and restored to God. That when He was raised from the grave so too, you can be raised to new life, in Christ and become a child of God.
Tell God that you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
Ask God to help you live according to His word, ask Him to give you love so you may love Him.
Ask Him to change you into the man/woman He has planned you to be.
Then:
Begin reading the bible, starting at Matthew in the New Testament, then onto Mark, Luke until the end (Revelation).
Read morning and evening.
Pray- make time in the morning to pray. And pray/ talk to God throughout your day. Pray before you sleep.
Tell him your thoughts, fears and problems. Don’t just tell them, but give them to God – in trust, that He hears you and will help you sort them out. Ask to be able to understand, and know Him and the truth.
Make a point to offer thanks to Him. Begin looking at what is in your life to be thankful for: your breath, a warm bed, a job…the sunrise. When you give thanks to God, you are worshipping Him and giving Him acknowledgment and honor. The more you give thanks, the more thankful you become, as you start to see all that God gives to you.
Begin looking for other believers who you can share and encourage your life in the Lord with.
As much as you show God that you are serious about Him, He will, in turn, be serious with you and will make Himself known to you in power and revelation- and this is what changes a poor sickly soul into one that is filled with the Living God!
2 Chron 16:9a; For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
Prov 3:5-6; Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Matt 6:31-34; Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
