What does the words ‘in Christ’ mean?  For some they are just words, but in reality it is to be our position, our posture and how we align ourselves, which is to abide in Jesus.  Our inner man – or spirit is linked to the Spirit of the Living God by His gift to us, His grace.  We claim this gift because we receive the work He has done through the shedding of His blood in hanging on the cross to die, and because He rose from the grave – we are able to rise with Him and receive our new lives in our newly created bodies which are found in the Spirit – In Christ.  In this place we are hidden Col 3:3; For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  We are found in the shadow of the Almighty – the place of safety Psalm 91.

I can say that I believe that my umbrella will keep me dry and out of the rain, and be faithful in carrying it around with me and when the rain comes down, I fail to put it out over me, my faith in it has proved that I do not truly believe it’s good for me.   This is a poor analogy, but hope it will give a picture of those who believe in Christ and what He has done, but do not allow His life to have any effect/impact on them.  Where in truth, His (resurrected) life, has been given to us so that we may live through Him to accomplish the will of His Father for His people.

Christ paid for our gift of grace of redemption.  Now as we accept His invitation to join Him we must walk in the newness of Life He gives to receive it.  That means we leave our old life behind.  We do not count our love for the world, our lust that drives our flesh and the pride that compels us – anymore in our new life.  Paul said it this way; And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Gal 5:24 & But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Gal 6:14.

There is a roaring lion out there who is our enemy and is Satan.  He searches all who say they believe in Jesus Christ – and looks for any false testimony.  In this he is able to pounce on us!  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Jesus said that Satan had nothing in Him John 14:30, so Satan did not take Christ’s life, but He willingly laid it down as an offering for His Father.  In the same way, we as His firstfruits – are to be blameless and not allow Satan to have anything in us that he may use against us, for he is the accuser and always looks to accuse us Rev 12:10.  But, as we walk in the light, as He is in the Light He is faithful to cleanse us of our sin, 1 John 1:7 and are found in Him Romans 6:11 where Satan has nothing in us to accuse.

Our faith is something that is to be practiced for we are at war Ephes 6:12.  May we not give foothold to the devil Ephes 4:25-27  and all be found in Christ Col 3,  Amen.
