The common explanation: a spiritual connection created through a sexual relationship. I agree with this but do not believe it is limited to only this.  We can bind our souls to people, objects, places, mental mindsets, traditions, religions, philosophies, drugs & alcohol, animals and even spiritual hosts.  They are places in our lives where we have been bound to someone or something through inordinate affection, soulish love, fleshly lust, manipulation (by us or another), in the act of sexual sin, rebellion or out of fear. The list can go on certainly.  In this act, we subject ourselves to satanic power and influence in our lives.  Here are some example scenarios:

A person who is under a manipulative relative’s influence – through constant barrage of manipulative relating they become subject to their control through guilt, shame in manipulation – in this a soul tie has been formed.

Addiction always starts with an inordinate affection and fleshly lust – that quickly binds to the soul

A person begins to have an innocent ‘crush’ on another, and as they spend time thinking and fantasizing upon the crush, a soul tie is formed and they bind their soul to this person.

A person has a pet and then the pet becomes more than it should binding their soul to the pet.

A person has seen a horrible thing and in the trauma they assume the soul tie that binds them.

A person has had sexual relation (outside of marriage) with another, either consensual or not – in this act a soul tie has been formed with this other person.

Agreeing with the lies of the god of this world, Satan – is a common soul tie that blankets a host of problems and issues we may be struggling in and never able to overcome them.

Within each soul tie, the satanic force is able to work their ‘ministry’ against us with the ambition to imprison us.  We make room for the enemy usually unknowingly and this is best for his work so he may continue – to gain success in us, through our ignorance.

When we are saved, we have been given the keys of the Kingdom of God. When we ask the Spirit oh God to reveal to us the soul ties we have in our lives, He will show us.  With each one, we renounce them and cut them off from having power in our lives and are washed by the blood of the Lamb, cleansed of this sin, as we walk in the Light as He is in the light.  1 John 1:7.

I believe that we have places in our lives where we just can’t gain the victory no matter how much we desire it – because our soul is yet tied and must be cut.

In the Old Testament vows were binding and could not be revoked.  And Jesus spoke on them as well.   They are not to be spoken or taken lightly.  In the same way, when we make an agreement, or an allegiance, knowingly or unknowingly, they are binding.

I have heard it said that Satan is the most expert in the legal system.  Everything He does is done legally.  He is cunning and has been doing what he has been doing for thousands of years and by now has become expert in his wiles in causing us to take his bait no matter how unfairly he goes about getting us to.

Begin asking God to reveal to you what it is you are bound to.  You will be surprised at how many things He will show you.  As He does, just break them off in Jesus name and ask God to remove them from your life in all their power and influence so He may be the power in those areas.  Be warned though, some things will take your diligence in turning from them for the devil never just goes away.  He will place scenarios, thoughts and logic and good reason to continue in what you are fixing to cut away.

Let us see this for what it is, and then take our positions in Christ.  We are seated with Him in the heavenly places – at the right hand of God.  We can come to Him as our advocate to remove what has been placed upon us.  1 John 2:1.

We are a blessed people indeed so let us walk in His Power and grace and be overcomers – Amen!

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.  And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”                Matt 16:17-19

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,  do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,  far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.                              Ephes 1:15-21

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.         Col 3:1-3
