No one can say that because there are plug-in receptacles in a home, everything electrical will have power connected to it, because in order for power to flow it must be plugged into the power source.
For those who are Christian, Jesus Christ is our Source.
Though we cannot assume to be ‘hooked up’ to God by just saying Jesus is our Source. We too must be plugged into the Source to qualify our position and have access to all that Jesus has afforded us through His death burial and resurrection. How do we do this? It is by faith we access His Grace – to plug in; Romans 5:1-2. Upon plugging in, we now have a work to do; Ephes 2:10.
The Kingdom of God is alive and constant because God is alive in us and we become living sacrifices to God; Romans 12:1. We are not inactive lumps for then our faith would be inactive, or dead and not true! James 2:20 & 2:26. Upon our entry, as Spirit-filled believers, we become His ambassador who represents Him here on earth, and we have a whole new role, or profession to lead until we die and depart from this earth; 2 Cor 5:20. Lumps do nothing, they just exist, and sadly this is how many assume their life as a believer in Christ. They are not connected to the Vine, because anyone who is must assume the Vine’s life in them by responding to it, because as Christ’s power surges through us we change in response, in yielding to His word in obedience, becoming His witness.
Must we all be preachers standing on the street corner then? No, unless this is where God has called you. What we must be, are vessels that allow the flow of the Spirit to move in us in guidance. He becomes our teacher as we submit to the will of God by obeying His word we are granted the power and grace to endure testing and trials and will overcome the desire for the worldly. In these, we evidence His working in us.
We all can say that we have the Source of Power, in our lives, just like we can say we have electrical power source in our homes. What matters is if we plug into it and participate with it.
Our Source permits all to tap into Him, who commit to laying down their own lives, daily and to live for and through Him. We are assured His vibrant light to burn brightly in us that will spur us forward into the Kingdom of God – to grow us up so we may join Him in being about our Father’s business; 1 John 1:7, Luke 2:49, John 4:34 . When we remain in Him, we cannot be separated from His love and are a confident people assured of our position in Him and of the Salvation He has provided for us to come; Romans 8:16.
Jesus told us that only by Him will we have access to God (and all His Promises to us); John 14:6. Jesus is not only the Door; John 10:7, but He is also the narrow and difficult path; Matt 7:13-14. We must give all we have, so we may gain all He has given us – and then we will prove Him to the world around us not just by our word but also our testimony.
Our Promise and Plight – for all who are Plugged into the Power Source of God:
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-39
